A design sprint to evaluate SpareRoom.co.uk 's website employing Jakob Nielsen's ten usability heuristics for User Interface Design with added recommendations
A team and I have conducted a comprehensive heuristic evaluation of SpareRoom.co.uk, with the primary objective of understanding the users' experience and pinpointing any pain points they may encounter while navigating and completing tasks on the website.
To achieve this, we employed Jakob Nielsen's 10 Usability Heuristics for User Interface Design, which serve as broad guidelines rather than strict usability rules, ensuring a more holistic assessment of the product.
EVALUATION STRATEGY
Our evaluation focused on mapping a room search task flow and carefully analysing the user experience - from the initial stages right through to the final outcome.
During this process, we analysed and assessed the severity of each identified pain point and created a list of recommendations aimed at optimising the overall user experience.
FINDINGS SUMMARY
The main pain points we identified were centred around information organisation, filter functionality and consistency with established standards.
In response to these findings, our recommendations follow a theme of streamlining the presentation of information and options for your users, optimising the formatting of content and adopting a more minimalist approach to create a more visually cohesive and user-friendly environment.
